Update on HKUST Admissions Requirements for 2024 JUPAS Intake

Following the decision by the Education Bureau (EDB) to accept the recommendations by the Curriculum Development Council (CDC) to implement the optimisation proposals on the four senior secondary core subjects at Secondary Four in the 2021/22 school year [Details], HKUST admissions requirements for 2024 JUPAS intake will be updated accordingly. 

2024 Entry Requirements

JUPAS applicants applying to HKUST are expected to satisfy the University’s general admissions requirements of four core subjects and two elective subjects with minimum attainment levels of “332A33”, and specific requirements set out by individual Schools or programs on subjects and subject attainment levels (if any).


  • Level 3 in English Language;
  • Level 3 in Chinese Language;
  • Level 2 in Mathematics (Compulsory Part);
  • “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development +;
  • Level 3 in Elective 1;
  • Level 3 in Elective 2 or M1/M2#


Non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students may use an alternative Chinese subject, an HKDSE Other Language subject, or an HKDSE Applied Learning Chinese subject to satisfy the University’s Chinese language requirement. 

+ “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development will not be included in the admissions score calculation, which will only require 5 subject scores.

# Grade C or above in Category C subject can count as Elective 2 (for some programs).
