Broad-based Curriculum

WE give students great flexibility to create their own path. Students can expand their intellectual horizons in a diverse set of subjects while gaining specific skills and knowledge in their chosen area of specialty.

A minimum of 120 credits are required to complete a 4-year curriculum.

Students who wish to spend more time exploring their interests may apply to the School of Science, School of Engineering, or School of Business and Management via the “School-based Admissions” route before deciding their major. Students will be admitted to the respective School and choose their major program(s) at the end of the first two or three semesters.

Students who have already had a keen interest in specific program(s) may apply and be directly admitted to the program(s) of their choice via the Program-based Admissions

Flexible Combinations

A student can formulate a program combination that best suits his/her education and personal development need.

HKUST encourages students to acquire cross-disciplinary knowledge to meet the ever-changing demand of our fast-moving world.

A student may study within one School, enrol to a joint program, or even pursue a dual / triple degree through a joint university program.
