A global citizen at home in Hong Kong
For Noa NEDERPELT, a Dutch who grew up in Spain, the multicultural environment at HKUST was a natural fit. Also important to her were the endless opportunities HKUST makes available to all students, including internships, undergraduate research programs, and entrepreneurship training.
Like many HKUST students, Noa was introduced to companies and startups in our extensive network with the opportunity to take up an internship or participate in corporate projects. Among these was Peak 21, a company co-founded by an HKUST alumnus, which she joined as an intern in her freshman year. Both co-founders became important mentors to Noa as examples of how to be a great leader.
After graduation, Noa decided to stay in Hong Kong and work for HSBC as a product manager. She stayed in touch with HKUST alumni and her mentors during the years. In 2022, she re-joined the company she had interned because it had grown substantially and she wanted to “learn from the absolute best in the industry”.
In HKUST, we help our students explore, plan and prepare for a future career and provides them with the job search skills and connections they will need.
“If you wish to become a world citizen, HKUST is the place to go. Hong Kong itself is a melting pot of cultures that all contribute to the unique flavor of your university experience. I am so blessed to be a representative of this incredible university.”
