All the Support You Need to Succeed
College life can be some of the most exciting, yet challenging and overwhelming years in life. We are fully committed to making your years at HKUST a successful and enjoyable learning experience through our Counseling and Wellness Center.
Staffed by trained, accredited counselors and therapists, the Counseling and Wellness Center helps you deal with any challenges you may be facing and develop the personal skills that can make your time with us more rewarding and emotionally fulfilling. All information gathered during counseling or therapy sessions is kept strictly confidential.
Our counselors are highly experienced in helping students from diverse backgrounds. During one-on-one personal counseling sessions, they are here to offer the emotional support students might need.
“Our mission is to help students succeed by gaining self-understanding, emotional resilience and personal insights throughout their university years.”
The Centre also offers emotional support during off-hours and provides a 24/7 hotline service in collaboration with the Christian Family Service Center. In addition to this, the Center also organizes wellness/learning development events such as the Healthy Living Festival, examination support, and workshops/seminars on life-coping skills.
Fluffy heart-warming companions
One of the most popular features of the Dean of Students’ Office is our Comfort Paws Program, launched in 2019. Its star attractions are Bruno, a German Shepherd, and Luna, a Shiba Inu. What’s more interesting is that Bruno’s owner is our Prof. Garvin Percy DIAS and Luna’s owner is our Prof. Chii SHANG. We are sure that they make great partners as they work together to support our campus community. Bruno and Luna have friendly temperaments and can provide the affection and comfort that many students find helps to increase their physical, emotional and psychological well-being.
Like we have said, we provide all the support you need, even the warm and fluffy kind of support.
