HKUST offers substantial financial support, including academic scholarships, to recognize and reward outstanding students from diverse backgrounds and with various qualifications.
No application is required for these scholarships. Eligible candidates / offer holders are automatically considered based on their verified grades. The University selects qualifying students and informs them of their scholarship awards in due course.
Remarks: The School/Program Office may offer a top-up scholarship provided that the maximum amount of "Full Tuition Fee + HKD60,000 allowance" p.a. is not exceeded.

Academic scholarships are also awarded to top students with other qualifications based on academic merit.
Applicants are considered for these scholarships holistically, based on their profiles. Awards may be one-off or renewable, and may fully or partially waive tuition fees. The largest amount of scholarship funding is equivalent to the full tuition fee plus an allowance of HKD60,000 per academic year, renewable for the normative duration of study (subject to satisfactory academic performance).
No separate application is needed. Normally, applicants are notified of our scholarship decision when they receive their offer of admissions.
