HKUST embraces a mosaic of diversity and inclusion, fostering unity and equity. The Future Leaders Award is a distinguished scholarship that recognises exceptional non-local students with financial need who demonstrate academic excellence. The award aims to provide an opportunity for students to gain access to higher-quality education.

- Non-local applicants* who demonstrate financial need and potential to contribute to the HKUST community.
- Meet HKUST’s admissions requirements and are recommended for admissions in the Early Round.
*Applicants should be admitted to HKUST directly from high school, i.e., post-secondary applicants are not eligible.

The scholarship supports students at two levels, depending on their financial need:
- HKD50,000 (one-off)
- Full Tuition plus living allowance, renewable for applicants with high financial need
Students can receive other top-up scholarship offers, provided that the maximum limit of "Full Tuition Fee + HK$60,000 allowance" p.a. is not exceeded.

Applicants should submit their application for admissions and the application for the Future Leaders Award by the Early Round deadline, i.e., November 20, 2025. To support their applications for the Award, the following documents are required:
- Statement of Circumstance (to describe the family's financial situation, explain the interest in joining and contributing to the HKUST community, and elaborate on the positive impact of receiving this scholarship)
- Declaration on Family Finances
- Reference Letter / Recommendation Letter
Applicants will receive the results of the Award by January 23, 2026. Applicants can consider the offer and confirm acceptance of their admission offer by January 30, 2026.
