The Microelectronics and Integrated Circuits (MEIC) program is designed to ground a new generation of electronic engineers in the fundamentals and up-to-date knowledge of microelectronics and integrated circuits. This program equips students with the essential skills and expertise to drive innovation in the rapidly evolving fields of quantum technology, artificial intelligence, microelectronics, and new materials.
Students can then deepen their knowledge within selected area of interest such as Artificial Intelligence Chips, Bioelectronics, Robotic Systems, Photonics and Microwave Technologies, Embedded Systems, Integrated Circuits and Systems, Semiconductor Devices and Technology, and Signal Processing and Communications, which empowers students to tackle complex challenges and develop cutting-edge solutions.
Graduates of this program will be well prepared to contribute to the growth and advancement of the microelectronics industry, shaping the technologies that power our increasingly connected and technologically driven world.
Ranking:
A wide variety of technical and managerial careers are available to MEIC graduates, including electronic engineers, semiconductor chip designers, integrated circuit designers, communication engineers, and power system engineers. A significant number of graduates choose to continue their studies at the postgraduate level. Even graduates who choose not to pursue technical careers have found that the engineering training they obtained at HKUST gives them a competitive advantage over their peers.
Our graduates are employed at many world-class local and overseas companies, such as ASM, ASTRI, HKT, Huawei, Lenovo, Microsoft, National Semiconductor, Philips, Smartone, Solomon Systech, Varitronix, etc.
