The Summer Odyssey Night Ball launches the journey in spectacular fashion, setting the stage for a week of exploration, connection, and unforgettable experiences. As the very first event of the program, the Night Ball welcomes high school students with energy, elegance, and excitement.
Held in a vibrant and festive atmosphere, the evening brings everyone together for the first time—offering a chance to meet fellow participants, break the ice, and celebrate the beginning of this shared adventure. With music, dancing, interactive activities, and opening remarks, the event creates a sense of unity and anticipation for what lies ahead.
This inaugural celebration isn’t just a party—it’s the spark that lights the spirit of the Summer Odyssey, inviting every student to step boldly into a week of discovery, learning, and fun.
Day 1 of the Summer Odyssey kicks off with a group departure from Diamond Hill station, setting the stage for a full day of energetic bonding and immersive experiences. After arrival and registration, students engage in lively warmups and ice-breaking activities to get to know each other.
The day officially begins with an opening session, followed by a hearty lunch to refuel for the afternoon. Participants then dive into a dynamic mix of ice-breaking games, soci game, taster class, and a performance by the HKUST Symphony—offering a taste of both campus life and academic excellence.
As evening falls, students enjoy a fun and relaxed Grill & Groove dinner, followed by a warm and memorable Campfire session, wrapping up a day of learning, laughter, and lasting connections.
As the energy from Day Camp carries into the night, participants gear up for an unforgettable overnight experience.
The night kicks off with a thrilling Mass Game at the Residential Hall, encouraging teamwork, creativity, and collective spirit. From midnight onwards, the Taskforce Decision segment challenges participants to strategise and collaborate under time pressure.
As dawn breaks, students gather to witness the sunrise together, symbolising new perspectives and the bonds formed. After a brief rest period, the final morning is spent enjoying a relaxing and heartfelt Yum Cha time, followed by the closing ceremony.
