Overview
Description

Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics is the engineering of making smart decisions based on domain-specific knowledge, data, model and analysis.

Hong Kong is rapidly transforming itself into a knowledge-based economy. To keep up with HKUST’s best efforts to provide a world-class tertiary education and train future leaders in the field of industrial engineering, our undergraduate program in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IEEM) adopts a modern decision analytics based approach. Our curriculum covers predictive and prescriptive analytical tools, statistical models, machine learning algorithms, simulation, and creative modeling, aligning it with the needs of the modern economy. Graduates pursue careers in domain-specific areas, ranging from operations planning and scheduling to transportation systems and policies, from supply chain management to the management of technology and innovation.

Our program is accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in both the Logistics & Transportation and Manufacturing, Industrial & Systems disciplines, as well as by the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport in Hong Kong. This helps graduates to become internationally recognized professional engineers.

Studying abroad at Charles University in Prague and then Korea University in Seoul was truly life-changing for me. At Charles, I got to explore the huge history and culture of the beautiful Czech city. The classes were enjoyable and rewarding, and I loved exploring Europe on the weekends. Then, over in Seoul, I was totally immersed in Korean life: the food, the pace, the people. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, but I made amazing friends from all over the world. Those exchange programs opened my eyes to the world in a way nothing else could. They were hands-down two of the best experiences of my life.
