The BBA in Professional Accounting (ACCT) program gives students a world-class start in their professional careers. It cultivates trusted accounting professionals by equipping students with a solid foundation in business and accounting knowledge, along with outstanding communication and leadership skills. Professional excellence courses, offering seminars led by prominent accounting figures, are incorporated into the curriculum to enable students to meet and learn from industry leaders.
The ACCT program has long been academically acclaimed and is accredited by the AACSB International as well as leading professional accounting bodies such as the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and CPA Australia(CPAA).
The up-to-date curriculum offers the academic option “Accounting Analytics” for students who wish to sharpen their quantitative analysis skills in accounting in response to the increasing demand for data-driven insights. The curriculum is also flexible enough to allow students to pursue dual majors. The academic administration efficiently coordinates the course offerings of different programs and provides students with an environment conducive to the pursuit of their particular academic interests.
Extended Major
ACCT students may apply for the extended major in Artificial Intelligence or Digital Media and Creative Arts at the end of the 3rd term of study, if they satisfy the extended major requirement. Students completing the extended major will graduate with a title bearing both the traditional major subject they selected and the extended major. Our accounting graduates are popular among employers for a wide range of key roles, including but not limited to the accounting sector. Over 50% of recent accounting graduates have been recruited by Big 4 CPA firms. Nearly 90% of our job-seeking graduates have been full-time employed before or at the time of graduation; and more than half of them have received multiple job offers from reputable and sizable corporates.
Apart from the roles of Audit Associate, Compliance Analyst, Risk Assurance Associate, and Tax Consultant etc. in international accounting firms, accounting graduates have also taken up positions in other fields, such as Graduate Analyst at Deutsche Bank AG, Investment Associate, Account Manager at Microsoft Hong Kong Limited, and Executive Officer in HKSAR Government.
